3 R's of Leadership - Nishan Karki

"A good leader takes little more than his share of the blame,
a little less than his share of the credit."
-Arnold H. Glasow

Leaders often practice the three R's:-

● Respect for self
● Respect for other
● Responsibility for their actions

To be a true leader, one should have self-respect, respect others, and be responsible for all his actions.

A leader is a courageous and supportive person who supports and encourages people. A true leader supports his team and helps them to exceed their potential.

Some leaders may act as bosses and only give commands and would not support, encourage or help their teams. But a true leader works as part of the team, influences, supports, inspires and encourages the team.

Now, let us talk about the three R's:-

Respect for all: First of all, self-respect means a feeling of confidence and pride in yourself. Leaders have and need to keep their self-respect. Respecting themselves helps them view their actions and know their abilities, capabilities, and potential. Knowing themselves assists them to do their work efficiently, effectively and conveniently.

Respect for others: Leaders - not only respect themselves but also other people. Leaders must respect all of their team members so that they all will coordinate and cooperate with them. It helps develop trust and makes a good relationship between the leader and the team. The team will have a positive attitude towards him. Thus, the team will also support, cooperate and coordinate with the leader.

Responsibility for their actions: Leaders take responsibility for their actions. Taking responsibility will help the leader to improve his leadership. He will be able to do his work more conveniently and will solve problems with ease. Thus, taking responsibility for all their actions is a critical task for the leader.

At last, I would like to conclude my view with a quote.

"Leaders aren’t born they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that’s the price we’ll have to pay to achieve that goal or any goal."
~ Vince Lombardi

My Reflection on Self-control - Nishan Karki

"Ultimately, the only power to which man should aspire is that he exercises over himself." -Elie Wiesel.

Self-control means controlling our feelings, emotions and actions when we are angry, irritated, upset, enraged, etc. Self-control helps us in several ways. It leads a path for us to be a good person, it leads to a good life, it leads to happiness and receives us from certain emotions such as sadness, anger, depression and evil actions such as fight, gambling, ganging, etc. There are many ways to develop self-control. I have mentioned some of them below:

1. We need to correct our way of thinking.
2. We need to have a goal in life and follow that goal to achieve success.
3. We should have the confidence and willpower to do things correctly.
4. We should focus on our work daily.
5. We should be self-motivated and inspired and also take motivation from good people.
6. We should learn to control our feelings, thoughts, emotions and actions.

Why do we need Determination in our lives? - Reflections 26th Feb 2023

Yes, Determination is essential in our lives because the word determination itself says the essence of increasing the same chances to be successful in what you want to achieve. It could be an aim of your life or a particular thing you want to achieve. For me, Determination means being motivated and only losing hope once unless you reach what you want and have faith in yourself.

Once you are determined and have faith in yourself, hundreds of obstacles may come your way and can't stop you from achieving your goal. So at last, I say that, according to my having, a determination is essential; otherwise, we can give up things quickly, but once you are determined, you will try your best to achieve that.

Mishu Gupta

When I think of determination I see it as the strong desire or will to do something or accomplish a thing which someone wishes to do. A dream or goal of a person is only fulfilled and hard work comes when one is determined towards one's goal or dream. Determination makes a person more interested and focus towards achieving his goal. Nothing would distract or obstruct a determined person from achieving his dream.

All successful people have achieved success as determination has played a huge role in their lives. No one can stop a determined person and can never put them down. Even the motivational speakers have always mentioned that determination is very important to achieve something. Determination is something which comes from within and it never comes through forcing or punishing someone. No dream is fulfilled in life without determination , it is the most important part for achieving or doing something.

Shristi Khulal

By having a determination one can achieve anything in life but , one must also have a intrest on what you are doing. If we forcefully try to put our determination on the work in which we are not interested then it will ruin our life and if we put our determination on the work in which we are really interested then it will surely lead to sucess

In life we need to have determination as without the willing of doing something one can never achieve success. Determination helps us to keep moving forward in life. Are determined to do something, then the way to success is automatically created. It is very important to have determination in life to reach success and to achieve anything in life.

To Reach Your Goals - Aria Gupta

Why is patience an immutable value?

Everybody says that you need to make goals to achieve and you should contribute at least an hour of your 24-hour life to accomplish these goals, But how?

Imagine your brain to be a dense jungle. When you want to make a goal and start working towards it, it's like walking through the wilderness; it takes energy to convince yourself to do it. Since our brain hates wasting energy, it comes up with a trick. Every time you cross a path in the jungle, you make it easier to travel. Soon it becomes a highway which is much easier to cross. To make these highways, we need to use a wise planner and an impulsive toddler. An intelligent planner helps you to understand what we have to do to reach that goal; it helps us break down the goal into easier, manageable tasks.

The impulsive toddler will help you slowly turn those manageable tasks into habits you do without thinking. All you need is a little bit of patience. If you do have that, you will certainly reach your goals without thinking about giving up.

Thank you for reading this. It will surely help you at some point.

Goals - Trusha Sarkar

If we want to succeed in life, set a goal that commands our thoughts, liberates our energy and inspires our hopes.

Setting a goal is the first step that helps us turn the invisible into the visible; in other words, it motivates us to realize our dreams.

Why is it necessary to set goals? My fellow mates' answer to this question is that realistic goals with time boundaries act as road maps that would guide us to show what we can achieve with the skills we possess and our real potential.

I would like to share with my readers - one tiny baby step that I have taken lately is that every morning when I wake up, the first thing that I do is to scribble in my dairy- a 'things-to-do' list. This helps me in prioritizing my tasks for the day. It has definitely helped me act in a little organized manner.

The Japanese believe everyone has an Ikigai- a reason to jump out of bed every morning.

Rightly said, 'A goal is a dream with a deadline.' I firmly believe that we should dream significant and, more importantly, follow it with sincere and consistent efforts. I am confident that we will be more focused and attain our objectives more smoothly with our goals rightly set.

To wrap up, let me expand the acronym GOALS:

G- Grow; O- One-step; A- At a time; L- Little by little, your; S- Steps will add up.

Goals - Rishona Chopra

Set your goals high, and don't stop until you get there.

Goals are our ambitions. Like in football, there is a goal. Our life's goal is quite the same!
In football, we have to hit the ball at the goal, but the goalkeepers and the opponent's team don't let you do that. You have to face them and hit the same goal in your life; we have challenges facing and reaching our goal.

Goals are not just a tiny thing; they are your life. We all have a life, and we have the opportunity to do whatever we want with it, so why not do the something we wish, our passion. And that is a goal!

My goal is to become a neurosurgeon, and I have started practising for it! I have read 3 thick books on our body and have done a course on Udemy on the Brain and other body parts. It was a minor higher level, but I understood most of it. I also want to be an author and have written several short blogs and stories. I wrote a small book of 20 pages and will start writing another one!

So whatever your goal is, make sure it is your passion.

Gratitude - Rishona Chopra

I am happy because I am grateful. I chose to be thankful. That gratitude allows me to be happy.

- Will Arnett

Gratitude is to be thankful. We have so many things in our lives to be grateful for. In fact, everything we have we should be happy with! Here is a poem on gratitude.

We have a home to live in,
We have goals that thrive,
We have clothes to wear,
And we have the education to share!

The challenges that we face,
Are just the base,
For us to become a divine souls,
And reach our primary goal!

This poem tells that there are several things to thank for! Every happy and sad moment is a blessing, the sad, challenging moments make you more resilient and mature, and the happy ones are for you to enjoy! I am so glad because of my connection with God. He probably thought I was a bit stubborn but could quickly learn, so he gave me a happy life with a few little challenges!

Determination - Rishona Chopra

Determination is the quality to do something and the ability to face all obstacles bravely without giving up. It enables you to achieve the goal you have set, no matter how hard.

Steve Jobs (CoFounder Apple) was fired from his own company but still managed to fulfil his dreams. We can learn from his life how determination can help us achieve the impossible. I would like to share a short story about validating my point.

When I was in medical college, I usually studied while my other friends were busy partying. I felt pressured to have fun with them instead of learning. Although partying looked fun, I knew if I didn't study, I wouldn't achieve my goal, and if I failed, I would be disheartened, and my dreams wouldn't be fulfilled. I ignored them. It was difficult. It was soon time for my final paper. Luckily, I did well! My hard work had paid off. If I had spent my time partying like the other students, I would have indeed failed.

And this is how determination allows us to fuel our dreams!

Cooperation - Krishnadeep Madhav

Cooperation means working together for a common goal. This can be depicted by a drawing made by me.
Three men are working together to lift a big key. They support and cooperate with each other to complete their task. By collaborating, they can finish the given job easily and quickly.

So we should always cooperate with each other.

Cooperation - Bhumika Nimbark

Cooperation means working together to achieve a common goal. It could be of many types like cooperation between groups, pairs, direct, indirect, and even between humans and robots. Cooperation is a kind of social interaction which is an essential factor in teamwork. Without cooperation, a team won't achieve its goal no matter how hard it works.

There was an incident in my life that made me understand the importance of cooperation. In class 8, I was selected for a drama performance at the Annual Day function. As it was to be staged in front of guests, parents, principal, teachers, and the rest of the school, I was nervous, and so were the rest of the team members. Because I was a new girl and didn't have many friends, I lost my confidence; I was worried that I would spoil the performance because of my nervousness. Still, in that situation, 2 factors made my team successful, authentic leadership of the leader and the cooperation of the team members. I thought in a group, if a leader doesn't work well, the team won't succeed, but before that, cooperation of the team members is much more critical.

So, if the team members cooperate without any dispute or jealousy, then that team will achieve its goal and succeed in every possible way.

Cooperation - Tiya Sompura

I have made a graphic to explain cooperation.

Working together with somebody else to achieve something is known as cooperation. It is the ability to balance one's own needs with someone else's. It is derived from the two Latin words: 'Co' meaning together and 'opera' meaning to work. It can be seen in family, school, friends, etc. It helps society to develop. Without cooperation, it's not easy to achieve a goal. It is a positive motive that is equivalent to competition in motivating a person to reach the goal. It creates a very healthy environment for the betterment of society.

Beating The Odds - Rishona Chopra

After reading the chapter Beating The Odds from the book Is Your Child Ready For The World by Dr Anupam Sibal.

We often come across problems that get in our way or obstacles that discourage us. Even our own health can discourage us from our goal, but we shouldn’t let that happen.

Life has ups and downs, and we have to face them. People can only comfort us, but it is we who have to
be brave and strong to face such challenges.

Take the example of Ludwing Van Beethoven, a famous pianist.

Ludwig Van Beethoven had a hearing problem called Tinnitus in which he would get a ringing sound in his ear that made it difficult to hear. Despite facing trouble, he faced this challenge and played the piano like there was no end. He played it with positivity. He was able to make masterpieces even with his hearing problem.

The story of Beethoven is just an example. Your health doesn’t need to be a problem. It can be of any kind, from bullies to serious injuries. It can be anything, but you have to face that challenge with positivity and never give up.
