Importance of bedrock mentoring - Shilpika Pandey

There is too much or too little of so many things in this world that we wish to catch in life. Our dreams, aspirations and wants make us put our hands into a jar full of innumerable  options but when we get stuck at what to really pick, we falter and are unable to choose and thus come at a precise decision. 

The road ahead seems blurry and one wonders if at all to walk on it until someone out there clears, not the road but the vision to see it clearly and helps us walk on it with a confident gait that we realize the importance and effectiveness of that guiding hand, advisor, counsellor or a bedrock MENTOR! 

A Mentor is what each one of us needs to take the best decision, pick the right option and stay focused. But how do we know our mentors? How do we recognize them? The answer is very unadulterated.. When the student is ready, the Guru or mentor appears!

One recognizes a mentor in a kind, empathetic, non judgmental ,helpful, supporting, encouraging, motivating, positive and a wise human. A mentor is a gateway to a mentee's world of opportunities becoming correct and lifelong decisions and facilitating a successful place in life! A true mentor plants a belief, nurtures trust and backs a skill in the right direction. A mentee is forever looking for that mentor who exists but justifies his/her presence when the former is open to welcome one.

A mentor can help one find himself ,change lives and help build a nation and so MENTORING MATTERS!

Quality - Arav Agarwal

Quality is how something or someone is. Everyone has unique qualities, and we need an environment to develop our qualities. At My Good School, we all are building various qualities like leadership, listening, and teamwork. We all can choose the qualities we want within us by being self-aware, responsible, willing to learn and explore and mindful of ourselves and our surroundings.

Our mentor explained in our mind-body cricket session that it does not matter how many balls you play or the number of overs you bowl, but what matters is the quality of your batting and bowling, as that is what everyone will remember about us.

I feel that our qualities become our character. So, to build these qualities, we want others to remember us as we should be passionate and act with integrity, empathy, kindness and patience, as these are the basic foundations of human values to live a successful and wonderful life.

When my mentor left me - Gaurangi Rastogi

When your teacher, who helped you as a friend to fight your pain to become successful, is like you, You can talk to them about anything. Who made your worst subjects interesting. My role model is going on a new journey. 

Okay! So, I'm going to tell you my feelings about this scenario in points.

• When you hear the news, you think of it as a rumour and ignore it for a few weeks.

• When the news comes out to be true, you simply are in shock. 

• Now, if you want to make a remembrance for them, you can make it from any material you find. 

• You decorate it with your words and feelings. 

You Know, I am writing this just to express my feelings. This is an important lesson I learnt from my mentor to ‘ express your heart’ in any form.

Student Leader: Mentor or Monitor - Rishona Chopra

A class monitor. It is one of the most exciting things for me. The best day is when the teacher announces you as the class monitor. It's a feeling that you could lead the class. Writing names on the board is not a monitor, but helping students correct their mistakes is being a monitor. A monitor is not someone who brings a list of complaints to the teacher but finds out tricks to make other students listen to them. 

Monitors are supervisors ad set an example. 

A monitor is a young mentor. Imagine your teacher running in the corridors and not solving problems but even for the most minor mistakes giving their names to the Principal, won't that be odd? In the same way, we have to be the example for the class when the teacher is away.  As said, " When the cat's away, the mice are out to play". In the same way, when the teacher goes out of the class, the children start to play! We, as young mentors, should be able to handle the class in the similar way a teacher does.

A monitor is not supposed to be bossy but sweet, kind, and helpful. After all, a monitor in a classroom is a monitor for life.

Friendship - Arav Agarwal

As we are celebrating the value of Friendship at My Good School, I would like to share my experience of being a part of My Good School. 

I have experienced that friendship at My Good School is learning, sharing and growing together. We meet every Sunday and together read a book, learn different life values from the book and share our reflections and experiences with each other experiencing the joy of reading, writing and speaking.

As part of an internship, we learn from each other by sharing our skills and being mentored by teachers from different schools all over India.

Yes, we are growing together at My Good School to become a better version of ourselves.
