3 R's of Leadership - Nishan Karki

"A good leader takes little more than his share of the blame,
a little less than his share of the credit."
-Arnold H. Glasow

Leaders often practice the three R's:-

● Respect for self
● Respect for other
● Responsibility for their actions

To be a true leader, one should have self-respect, respect others, and be responsible for all his actions.

A leader is a courageous and supportive person who supports and encourages people. A true leader supports his team and helps them to exceed their potential.

Some leaders may act as bosses and only give commands and would not support, encourage or help their teams. But a true leader works as part of the team, influences, supports, inspires and encourages the team.

Now, let us talk about the three R's:-

Respect for all: First of all, self-respect means a feeling of confidence and pride in yourself. Leaders have and need to keep their self-respect. Respecting themselves helps them view their actions and know their abilities, capabilities, and potential. Knowing themselves assists them to do their work efficiently, effectively and conveniently.

Respect for others: Leaders - not only respect themselves but also other people. Leaders must respect all of their team members so that they all will coordinate and cooperate with them. It helps develop trust and makes a good relationship between the leader and the team. The team will have a positive attitude towards him. Thus, the team will also support, cooperate and coordinate with the leader.

Responsibility for their actions: Leaders take responsibility for their actions. Taking responsibility will help the leader to improve his leadership. He will be able to do his work more conveniently and will solve problems with ease. Thus, taking responsibility for all their actions is a critical task for the leader.

At last, I would like to conclude my view with a quote.

"Leaders aren’t born they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that’s the price we’ll have to pay to achieve that goal or any goal."
~ Vince Lombardi

Appreciation - Nishan Karki

"When you don't come from struggle, gaining appreciation is a difficult quality." ― Shania Twain.

Appreciation means expressing our gratitude to others or praising, admiring and complimenting others. We appreciate people by saying phrases such as You have a friendly personality, you are very respectful, etc. Appreciation is one of the great values which we possess. Appreciating others also shows our respect for them. We take and give Appreciation to many people such as our parents, teachers, elders, juniors, seniors, relatives, youngers, neighbours, etc. If we appreciate people positively, we, in return, will also get a positive response like thank you. We will get adverse reactions if we disrespect or say wrong about people. It means that Appreciation is one of our positive values.

At Pestalozzi, we all respect and appreciate every staff including Cheme Ma'am, office staff, housemothers, cooks, drivers, guards, cleaners, and our friends. We understand the work which they are doing for us. Pestalozzi provides us with every best thing possible such as education, food, clothes, entertainment, etc. Its main motive is to provide us with good education to improve our future. Pestalozzi encourages, helps and supports us to exceed our potential. It prepares us to face the world, its challenges and difficulties. Pestalozzi doing all these things for us, deserve respect and appreciation for their work.

How did you repair a broken relationship? - Veda Varshita Marivada

Firstly, a relationship is a way through which people or things are connected. People can have relations with family, friends, animals, nature and even things.

The critical elements for a strong and healthy relationship are mutual Respect, Understanding, Communication, Compromise, and Trust. We should first understand the person and respect their opinions; giving them a chance to speak and putting in their shoes is important too.

Being an 11-year-old child, I have never experienced a broken relationship, but let me tell my story with my best friends. My parents and I have lived in Bangalore since my birth. Over there, I met Ridhi and Tanishka on the first day of school. We became best friends. They were kind, affectionate and caring. They would cheer me up when I was not in a good mood.

One day, my father said we had to shift to Hyderabad for his job there. I was distressed to leave my friends and head for a new life. It was tough for me to adjust to the situation because we spent quality time together over weekend outings, playdates, birthday celebrations etc. I also had a good scoop of opportunities to learn activities like art, chess, and karate with my friends at “The Indian Heritage”, an activity centre. I also had a strong connection with nature over there. The weather was cool and pleasant, and the city was wooded and full of greenery.

After relocating to Hyderabad, I took time to accept my new life. Days passed, and it was my friend’s birthday. I was flustered because I wanted to convey my wishes to her. I gathered courage and started texting her anxiously. But to my surprise, she replied immediately, saying she was delighted and missed me. I was pleased and relieved as I thought she might be furious for not being in touch with her. I also texted my other friend. I had a good time talking with my friends. From then onwards, we have been staying in touch regularly. How could I forget such good friends? I am fortunate to reside in a peaceful, green, and safe colony which helped me to acclimate to the new locality and make new friends. Hmm! But I still miss those memorable days and keep recollecting those sweet memories.

Why should we have a relationship? We would be depressed and lonely if we did not have anyone to spend time with. Therefore, try to have more relations as they say, “The More the Merrier”.

Here is a poem in Hindi that says:

This carries a lot of meaning. It says, “If something is broken, then learn to repair it. If someone is angry, then learn to convince and please them. Relationships are destined; just learn to handle them beautifully.” So, make sure you have a solid and good relationship, whether it is a person, animal, nature, or thing.

Oh Teacher, I Salute Thee - Nishan Karki

Teachers are the person who teaches us in school, tuition, online classes, etc. They try to give their best to teach us. Kabir Das, in his Shakis, says that if God and teacher are in front of me, to whom I shall greet first. Then he says, it is only possible because of our teacher that I can see and helps us reach God. He simply wants to say that teacher is even greater than God.

What Kabir said in his Sakhi is also true. The teacher always supports and encourages us to study well. They always advise us to go on the right path in life and always choose the right one. Teachers give us many things for which we should salute and respect them.

What I Value The Most In Life - Shilpika Pandey

   Respect

Having come across most of what life offers us in terms of personal, social, economic, and spiritual, I value the most in life respect! It is easier to love and pamper than give someone Respect. Respecting others comes from respecting yourself first, for what you are and wish to be, and valuing your existence.

Devoid of cultural, professional, spiritual, and economic differences, one must learn to respect humans for actually being human . Respect provides a sense of security to all and connects beautifully with co-existence. One becomes literate to exist on this planet, but one must be educated on Respect to co-exist.

An idea appreciated, an opinion heard, a belief secured, and a preference valued is what conforms to Respect. Everyone can speak but to be a good, patient listener, one needs to use the virtue of Respect. Respect is irrespective of gender, age and profile.

Respect is earned, not demanded!

What makes us who we are - Nishan Karki

It us a common perception that our thoughts, behaviour and nature make us who we are.

If we behave correctly to other people showing them respect, they will assume that we have good manners and behaviour. Maintaining a good personality is beneficial and important in life.

Respect - Tenzin Jambey

Respect means having inspiration, admiration, and high regard for someone because of their action, work, and achievement. In today's world, if we want to be respected by people, then our actions should awaken a feeling of motivation in them.

Respect is something that needs to be earned, but we should always be first to give respect to others. Then only we will be respected back.

As the world is changing, people's mindsets and ways of thinking are changing and transforming into a devil's mind. Nowadays, if we even respect someone, they don't respect us back. People only respect you for your position. In school, I see "once in a blue moon" students giving respect to the workers like sweepers, carpenters, guards, gatekeepers, etc.

In school, I have seen some students who don't even respect their teachers, who are like gods to us and always try to teach us good things. I have also noticed during assembly that the seniors don't listen to what the Principal sir is saying; they all seem lost in their own world.

Some people find it very difficult to learn and adopt good things, but they find it exciting and joyful to know the bad words, cursing words, wrong languages, and bad qualities.

We might think that the person who is beautiful and handsome or very attractive and good-looking is the one who is always respected, but, actually, only they are respected who work day and night to be a good person and always have a pure heart.

As students, we should always try to be calm children in the class. Although we are good students, our actions might be disrespectful to the teachers, which we don't get to know.

In today's world, even if we do our best to be respected by the people, it really doesn't matter to them. They only appreciate you if you have a  position. Millions of people say, "there should be equality, " but they don't do it. We should always respect someone not for their job but by thinking they are also human beings.

Celebrating Respect - Aarika Banka

“Respect everything and everyone” that’s what all your parents taught us, haven’t they? But have you ever actually thought about it? Respect is a significant value in our lives that we often forget about. There are so many creatures on our incredible earth.

Respect means accepting somebody for who they are, even though you don’t agree with them or are different. They’re all organisms that we don’t know how important they are.

An ant? Doesn’t matter if you kill it. It is useless. Killing a few ants won’t do any harm. There are so many things that we need to learn to respect, the decisions of people, the lives of people and organisms and endless things.

Respect is something that we all deserve. It is not just others we need to learn to respect. Sometimes, people think they are less than others. They become “insecure” and have low self-respect. We need to know to respect ourselves and our lives. It is not just others.

Respecting friends, family, strangers, animals, biotic things, abiotic things, ourselves, our lives, and others’ lives bring us back to the time our parents were teaching us the life value “Respect everything and everyone”. Now I can understand what they meant at that time.

The Best Element Of School - Rishona Chopra

The best element of School is the teacher. The way each teacher manages the class is remarkable. Every single teacher has several qualities. Along with taking care of students, they ensure that they are comfortable; when one does something very naughty while the class is studying, they are firm with that student.

No matter how firm the teacher is, with most teachers, you will get this sense that you are safe and you can trust our teacher because she is a teacher; when mother and father are gone for the day, she becomes both!

Teachers are parents, and we must never disrespect them. They are always there for you and to help you out.

Giving - Anvesha Rana

"Give without expectations, Give without recognition and Give for the Joy of Giving."

Equality is essential, but it does not last long, for financial differences always produce a barrier. Consequently, those who have enough must give to those who have nothing. When God blesses us financially, we should not raise our standard of living. Instead, we should raise our standard of giving because much is expected from those to whom much is given. Every day we witness acts of generosity, compassion and selflessness by ordinary people. They do not give a second thought to spending money on someone else when they can spend it on themselves. Life's persistent and most urgent question must be, what are you doing for others.

Some of the people who have demonstrated extraordinary generosity include Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jorge Munoz, P. Kalyansundaram, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Divij. At the age of thirty-one, Bill Gates was the youngest self-made billionaire, and at the age of sixty-four, he found organizations to address causes that were close to his mother. He helped eradicate Polio and supported many people across the globe financially. Bill Gates may be the richest man, but he is also the man who has contributed to charity more than anyone else. Another person who made the world realize the joy of giving was Warren Buffet; he gave away 85 per cent of his wealth to charity, with a colossal amount pledged to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We need not be rich to be generous, exemplified by Jorge Munoz, an immigrant from Columbia who lives in New York. He is a bus driver by profession but feeds hungry construction workers in the evening. His mission to serve the construction workers each day leaves him no time for friends, hobbies or leisure, yet each day he comes and becomes the reason for the smile on the faces of so many. We all can take inspiration from these people who have taught the world that giving has no barriers.

Once we realize the joy of giving, it will become our true nature to give. Giving is not something that occurs occasionally; it should be habitual and permanent. The fragrance always remains on the hand that gives the rose. Giving is beneficial for the one who receives and is even more advantageous for the giver, for it is in giving that we receive.

Respect - Rishona Chopra

Respect is when you care for someone and have a high opinion about them.

Many say we must have respect for elders, but we should also respect younger ones. Everyone is equal, so everyone should get respect.

Being respectful is essential as when we speak with anger and disappointment, the opponent feels terrible and wouldn’t care to listen to you, and you would feel bad. On the other hand, if we talk with respect, people would easily understand us and feel good.

Apart from respecting others, we must respect ourselves too, which is having self-esteem.

Self-esteem is to love ourselves. When we do something wrong, we shouldn’t be hard on ourselves but respect ourselves like a young child who made a small mistake. Having too much self-esteem is not good, and neither is having no self-esteem.

We should respect others and ourselves too.

Caring - Arindita

Caring means to be kind or concerned about something. For example, helping someone shows you care for the person. Caring is essential as it benefits both you and the person you care for. It is very similar to kindness and respect. It creates happiness and love; it even makes you a better person. Caring doesn't necessarily mean to help someone or do something big, even simple acts of kindness count. There are many ways you can care for something:

You can help someone if they are struggling to do something.

You can also make someone feel better by having good talks with them

You can provide something to someone if they need it.

You can respect them.

And many more ways.

A simple act of kindness can make a huge difference, Care for others.

Happiness - Avika Singhal

Happiness is the feeling of contentment or when life fulfils your needs with a lack of worries. When people are successful, safe or lucky, they feel happy.

To me, happiness is my inner peace and satisfaction. Happiness does not have to be the same for everybody. It may differ from person to person.

I am happy when I am living a moment fully like when I play basketball when I go out for a vacation with my family, when I play with slime when I go out shopping, when I eat my favourite food and when I have money, and I can help the poor. Such things light up my mood, and I put aside all my stress and live in the moment.

Now the things can you pass your happiness to others so that they are happy too! Everyone likes being loved, right? Yes, everyone likes being loved and cared for. So if you follow the following things, then you can pass your happiness.

  • Pass a smile to them when you get a chance
  • Help them in their work
  • Show them love and respect
  • Show that you care
  • Be in a happy mood around them
  • Tell jokes to each other(not offensive ones) laugh with them
  • Share your things and don’t remind them they favour repeatedly
  • Be a good friend and keep secrets so that they can be warm and comfortable around you

Honesty and Respect - Divyanshi Upadhyay

Honesty and Respect are existing in India till ancient times. Honest people are being respected by the public in the past. People were not only honest to each other, but they also respected each other and their ideas. Some examples of honesty are Raja Harishchandra and Yudhishthira (Also called Dharamraja ). Respect matters a lot to the ancient people. They respected their elders as well as youngsters.

With time, the meaning of honesty and respect has been changed very much. Today honesty has the same value for some people. In today's world, where crime is prevailing everywhere globally, some people have respect for honesty. Honesty pays, but one should have patience. Respect is like a give and takes matter. If you give someone respect, you will get the same respect in return.

Self Respect - Jiya Vaishnav

Self-Respect refers to loving oneself and behaving with honour and dignity. It reflects respect for oneself. An individual who has self-respect would treat himself with honour. Furthermore, lacking self-respect is a matter of disgrace. An individual who does not respect himself should certainly not expect respect from others. The person who values his self-respect will respect others. He would never want to hurt anybody with his words or actions. We should treat others the way we want to be treated.

Self-respect develops inner strength and courage to speak for yourself. It also makes us realize how important it is to treat others with respect. It helps us to become more thoughtful in our behaviour.
